.Gif-Oh-Five Project

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Problem:

With Gifs being the newest addition to any texting thread including Direct Message on Facebook, Instagram and all the places web allows us to post. For Miami Influencers and Bloggers looking for gifs specific to their location of Miami can become a bit difficult. Bloggers wanted something that tied closer to their culture and the city of Miami they are from.

Solution:

The idea of .Gif-Oh-Five was discovered to create a web app that allows users to search for any “Miami” related gif by simply typing a search query and a Miami related gif to that topic will arise. So if you’re searching for coffee gifs – – Cafe Bustello or Cuban Coffee is sure to populate in the search results.

Tools to create:

To create this web app I used HTML, CSS, JSX, React, Bootstrap, Giphy API, and a couple of libraries from React-Share, and React Styled Components.

Conclusion

For my first web app project, I think it was executed very well. Discovering how an API works was a rewarding discovery and Gipphy’s API has a FREE developer mode that lets you practice using it, shows examples of how to use it, as well as what elements you can take from it.

For the next build I would want to add a footer, an area for users to embed the Gifs onto their personal web pages or blog spaces, including more information about the gif.
